Hip Series: External Hip Rotation

External Hip RotationThe Purna Yoga Hip Series sequence includes six directions of movement in the hip joints. It is therapeutic for low back pain, SI joint dysfunction, and sciatica. The fifth posture in the Hip Series sequence is External Hip Rotation.

Start on your back with knees bent and your feet to the floor. Place your left ankle on top of right thigh just below your knee. Bring your right knee towards the floor and right foot to the left so your shins are parallel with the short end of your yoga mat. Flex both feet.

Option to place support (block, blanket) under right thigh (shown in photo).

5-10 breaths. Both sides.
